Amarillo, TX: FMD Validation Workshop

Event Description: 

The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission (PRPC) Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Validation Workshop was held on January 29, 2014 in Amarillo, TX.

Goal:

This workshop aimed to validate the Panhandle Regional Foreign and Emerging Animal Disease (FEAD) Support Annex and the local Animal Issues plan (former AIC plan).

Objectives:

  • Educate and inform meeting attendees on the Panhandle Regional FEAD Support Annex and the local Animal Issues attachment.
  • Discuss the planning, maintenance, and updating of local Animal Issues attachment.
  • Emphasize identifying local resources using scenario-based tabletop exercise on the Panhandle Regional FEAD Support Annex using a regional FEAD scenario.

Summary:

This workshop consisted of presentations and two breakout sessions focusing on the planning process and a scenario discussion. This was followed by a Hot Wash. Representatives from various organizations including local, regional, state, and federal government and industry participated in the workshop.
