San Diego, CA: Command Post Exercise (CPX)
The BioNet Command Post Exercise (CPX) was held on May 25-26, 2005 in San Diego, CA.
The CPX aimed to demonstrate BioNet capabilities in a structured scenario through which decisions, the decision support system, and concepts of operation (ConOps) could be observed and measured.
- Give civilian and military users the opportunity to work together through a structured scenario using the BioNet system and ConOps.
- Use this structured scenario to detect, characterize, and share information about a biological attack against the population.
- Validate ConOps and the system process flow, connectivity, and use.
This CPX, the final of three BioNet exercises, involved exercise play from participants located at seven major geographically distributed command posts or sites in San Diego. There were two components to the exercise; the first and main component consisted of a CPX that involved exercise play from participants located at seven major and two minor geographically distributed command posts or sites. The second component consisted of an actual field exercise that brought together San Diego County and Navy Region Southwest in order to perform coordinated and integrated secondary environmental sampling using new tools and procedures developed in the BioNet program.
