Alexandria, VA: Biological Incident Executive Workshop
The BioNet Biological Incident Executive Workshop was held on October 5, 2005 in Alexandria, VA.
This workshop aimed to provide national level senior officials with an opportunity to examine local civilian-military interaction during a biological incident, highlighting lessons learned in various Defense Threat Reducation Agency (DTRA) programs such as BioNet and the Joint Service Installation Pilot Project (JSIPP).
- Explore civilian/military operational planning and response issues.
- Discuss gaps and identify possible solutions.
Overall, the local stakeholder participants found that the event successfully met most of the exercise program objectives. Specifically, the CPX provided an outstanding opportunity to fully demonstrate the various BioNet capabilities and processes, most of which had never been integrated together into a single regional exercise, let alone in a combined civilian and military setting. Additionally, the CPX validated the need for a robust and mature Decision Support System and associated processes.
