Yaounde, Cameroon: Technical Assistance Mission

Event Description: 

The Cooperative Biological Engagement Program (CBEP) Technical Assistance (TA) Mission was held on April 13-17, 2015 in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Goal:

This event aimed to enhance the Government of Cameroon's (GOC's) ability to rapidly identify, characterize, localize, and track a biological incident of national concern, improve processes to operate a health Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and enhance the GOC's ability to disseminate alerts and other information to partners.

Objectives:

  • Review current processes
  • Assist in implementing best practices
  • Continue to evolve health EOC concept of operations
  • Meet daily expected written outcomes

Summary:

The purpose of the TA visit was to provide guidance and walk through the functions of the Health Emergency Operations Center. The TA visit also aimed to build on the efforts of the previous two Incident Management System (IMS) training courses conducted in December 2014 and February 2015. The advisors used an informal discussion-based approach to mentor Ministry of Health (MOH) Direction de la Luttecontre les Maladies, les Epidemies et les Pandemies staff members assigned to the following EOC positions: Incident Manager, Operations, Planning, Logistics, Finance, Human Resources, Communications, Clinical Care, Epidemiological Surveillance, and Call Center.
