GOAL

The goal of the Interagency Biological Restoration Demonstration (IBRD) was to reduce the time and resources needed to restore and recover large urban areas, critical infrastructures, and Department of Defense (DOD) installations following the release of a biological agent. Specifically, IBRD faciliated development of the necessary policies, methods, and plans; and integrated applied technologies to accomplish that goal.

CUBIC'S ROLE

Cubic was the lead integration contractor for the following four task areas in the IBRD collaboration:

  • Task Area 1: Solution Development - Develop material and non-material solutions for area recovery and resiliency preparedness planning, including all types of critical infrastructure, civilian and military key resources, and high traffic areas such as transit/transportation facilities, following a biological incident such as outdoor anthrax
  • Task Area 2: Technology Testing and Evaluation - Test and evaluate technologies for wide-area restoration
  • Task Area 3: Consequence Management Plans - Provide comprehensive Consequence Management Plans & decision frameworks needed at multiple levels
  • Task Area 4: Roles/Responsibilities Establishment - Establish a better understanding of civilian/military interagency roles and responsibilities
